"Madre e Hija" - African Art

Te comparto un óleo que recién terminé. Este trabajo está inspirado en un cuadro africano que me llegó a través de un envío (solo que no he podido dar con el nombre del autor). El tamaño de mi pintura es de 40x60 cm. Como parte de la preparación del cuadro utilicé algunas semillas de mostaza trituradas para dar mayor realce. Titulé a este cuadro "Madre e hija"

I would like to share with you an oil painting I just finished. It is was inpired by an African painting I received through a forward (I have not managed to find the name of the original author). The size of my painting is 40x60 cm. While preparing the base I used some smashed mustard seeds which give an effect of depth and perspective. The title of this work is "Mother and daughter"

Esta pintura me dice mucho. Me habla de la dignidad, de la elegancia y la belleza de las mujeres de tez obscura. Mientras pintaba recordé pasajes de los siete años que viví en Mozambique. Ahora, ya terminado mi trabajo, sus tonos me remontan a las dunas del Kalahari en Namibia, al desierto del Cairo y a las calles de Marrakech en Marruecos.

This painting tells me so much. It talks to me about the dignity, the elegance, and the beauty of women with dark skin. While I was painting, I remembered passages of my time in Mozambique (seven years). Now that my work is finalized, the shades and the colors transport me to the Kalahari dunes, the Cairo desert, and the streets of Marrakech in Morocco.
